Modern Love, 2006
Hot on the heels of Stott’s dubstep 10-inch “Choke” (with his debut LP Merciless still in the wings), this 12-inch offers two solid retro cuts. The short title track features spooky washes over a quirky square bassline. “She’s Gone Wrong” on the reverse is thudding minimal techno with a mutating series of alarm-like bleeps. Unbelievably low bass soon surfaces as the track descends into electronic darkness. If only both sides were twice as long! This is a wonderfully primal record.
